At the Top of Google

What Local Service Ads Are

Local Service Ads are Google's lead program for eligible home service businesses. They can appear above traditional ads, the Map Pack, and organic results, allowing homeowners to call or message you directly. Businesses that meet Google's verification requirements can display the Google Guaranteed badge, a trust signal that helps customers choose with confidence.

Why They Matter

Calls Now While Your Organic Visibility Builds

For HVAC businesses, LSAs offer a direct route to high-intent homeowners who are looking for help today.

Leads in Weeks

Once your account is verified and live, Local Service Ads can generate calls in weeks, not the months it takes SEO to compound.

Pay Per Lead, Not Per Click

Your Google charges are tied to customer contacts rather than every click. We monitor lead quality and help challenge invalid leads.

Trust Before the Call

The Google Guaranteed badge, strong reviews, and a complete profile help prospective customers feel ready to contact you.

What's Included

Everything in a Managed LSA Campaign

We handle the moving pieces that turn an eligible profile into a dependable source of HVAC calls.

Setup and Service Strategy

We build and configure the account around your priority HVAC services, service area, operating hours, and capacity.

Verification Support

We guide the documentation and verification process, including business, license, insurance, and background-check requirements where applicable.

Budget Management

We set a starting budget that matches your capacity, then adjust it around demand, seasonality, and the jobs you want most.

Lead Disputes

When a contact is invalid or falls outside your configured coverage, we help submit and follow up on eligible lead disputes.

Reviews and Profile Strength

We help maintain accurate information and a consistent review process that supports eligibility and reassures homeowners.

Ongoing Optimization

We review lead quality, response handling, budgets, service settings, and performance so the account improves over time.

Google ad spend is paid directly to Google and is not included in the management fee.

The Complete Search Strategy

Ads Bring Calls Now. SEO Builds the Asset Underneath.

LSAs put you in front of ready-to-book customers today. At the same time, local SEO builds stronger Map Pack and organic visibility that compounds over time.

We align both channels around the same service area, reviews, best jobs, and capacity—so short-term lead flow supports the long-term asset instead of replacing it.

What You Can Expect

Be visible when homeowners are actively looking for HVAC help.

A clear view of spend and leads

Your ad spend goes directly to Google; management and performance are reported clearly.

Organic growth underneath

Use paid demand while local SEO earns visibility you keep building on.

Before launch

How LSA setup works

Local Service Ads are not a conventional search campaign that can be switched on with a few keywords. Google first checks whether the business and the services it offers are eligible in the target market. We start by confirming the business name, phone, service categories, coverage, hours, licences and insurance details, then identify the documents Google requests for that category. The business owner remains responsible for providing accurate documents and completing any checks.

Next, we configure the profile around the work you actually want: repair, maintenance, installation or other eligible services. Service areas should reflect where your team can respond, not every postcode you would like to win. We also review the linked Business Profile, photos, reviews, messaging settings, call handling and booking path. A complete profile gives Google and potential customers consistent information to assess.

After approval, we set a starting budget and operating rules around capacity. We monitor calls and messages, review which contacts turn into genuine opportunities, and adjust services, coverage and budget as evidence accumulates. Approval timing and ad visibility vary with verification, demand, competition, category and market; no responsible manager should promise a particular launch date or lead volume.

1. Check eligibility

Confirm category, market, service area, documents, insurance and background-check requirements where applicable.

2. Build the profile

Set accurate services, hours, coverage, contact options, photos and review signals.

3. Manage the launch

Track lead quality and response handling before changing spend or coverage.

Trust badges

Google Guaranteed vs Google Screened

These badges are not interchangeable. Google Guaranteed is used for eligible service businesses that complete Google's required screening and verification. Depending on the category and market, that can involve business checks, licences, insurance and background checks. It may also support Google's customer protection programme, whose terms and limits are set by Google.

Google Screened is a separate badge used for selected professional services and markets. It signals that the business has passed Google's screening requirements for that programme; it is not a promise that every job, quote or outcome will be satisfactory.

Availability, requirements and badge names can change by country, category and location. We check the current requirements shown in the account rather than assuming that a badge available to one contractor is available to another. Never claim a badge before Google grants it, and keep licences, insurance and profile details current.

What the badge does—and does not—do

  • It can: provide a visible trust signal and indicate that Google's stated checks were completed.
  • It cannot: guarantee a position, a number of calls, a booked job or workmanship.
  • It requires: accurate business information and ongoing compliance with Google's programme rules.
  • It varies: by service category, country and market, so check the live Google account.
Budget reality

What affects HVAC cost per lead?

Google charges for eligible customer contacts rather than ordinary clicks, but there is no universal HVAC cost-per-lead price. The amount can change by market and over time. A useful forecast therefore starts with your own account data, not a fixed figure copied from another contractor.

Market and demand

Population, search demand, seasonality, competition and the urgency of repair work all influence available leads and their price.

Service and coverage

Your categories, service area, hours, capacity and whether you accept calls or messages affect which contacts Google can send.

Profile strength

Reviews, responsiveness, accurate information and completed verification can affect visibility and customer choice.

Lead quality and response

Missed calls, slow replies, out-of-area enquiries and poor qualification can make an apparently cheap lead commercially unhelpful.

We separate Google's spend from the management fee and report contacts, valid leads, booked work and disputed leads where the available data supports it. The right budget is one your team can answer and fulfil, then refine as seasonality and lead quality become clearer.

When a lead is wrong

How LSA lead disputes work

A lead can be commercially disappointing without being invalid. We first record what happened: call or message time, caller details, location, requested service and whether the contact could be reached. That record helps distinguish an eligible customer contact from a duplicate, spam contact, wrong number, outside-area enquiry or another reason Google allows a dispute.

For eligible cases, we submit the dispute through the Local Service Ads account with the relevant details and monitor the decision. Google—not the agency—decides whether a charge is credited, and approval is not guaranteed. Keep call recordings and notes according to your privacy and legal obligations, and do not label a genuine customer as invalid simply because they did not book.

The best protection is prevention: keep service areas and hours current, answer promptly, use the correct service categories and review lead quality regularly. Dispute outcomes should be reported separately from booked jobs so the account's economics remain clear.

Questions

Local Service Ads FAQ

How quickly can Local Service Ads generate calls?

Plan around capacity, not a borrowed benchmark

A sustainable LSA budget is an operational decision as well as a media decision. A contractor who is already missing calls may need better scheduling and response coverage before increasing spend. Another business may have room for installation enquiries but not emergency work after hours. We map the account to those realities, agree what a useful lead means, and check whether the service area is generating contacts the team can actually serve. That makes monthly reporting more useful than comparing a headline cost with another contractor in another market.

Performance reviews should distinguish contacts, valid leads, disputed leads, booked work and revenue where tracking supports those comparisons.
